Top five cliches liberals use to avoid real arguments – The Washington Post

The Busy Post

Linerals never what to have a ‘meaningful’ conversation about ideology.  In their mind, you can either agree with them, or mock you for having the ‘audacity of hope’ to convert them to the truth.

There are so many examples of this in the real world from global warming, to ‘truthers’, to ‘birthers’, to economic theory, and one of my favorites below-The living Constitution’.

Top five cliches that liberals use to avoid real arguments

By Jonah Goldberg, Published: April 27

One of the great differences between conservatives and liberals is that conservatives will freely admit that they have an ideology. We’re kind of dorks that way, squabbling over old texts like Dungeons and Dragons geeks, wearing ties with pictures of Adam Smith and Edmund Burke on them.

But mainstream liberals from Franklin Roosevelt to Barack Obama — and the intellectuals and journalists who love them — often…

They like to refer to us as senior citizens, old fogies, geezers, and in some cases dinosaurs

Political Musings-At the Sunset of My Life

YOU & I ARE MEMBERS They like to refer to us as senior citizens, old fogies, geezers, and in some cases dinosaurs. Some of us are “Baby Boomers” getting ready to retire. Others have been retired for some time. We walk a little slower these days and our eyes and hearing are not what they once were. We have worked hard, raised our children, worshipped our God and grown old together. Yes, we are the ones some refer to as being over the hill, and that is probably true. But before writing us off completely, there are a few things that need to be taken into consideration.

In school we studied English, history, math, and science which enabled us to lead America into the technological age. Most of us remember what outhouses were, many of us with firsthand experience. We remember the days of telephone party-lines, 25 cent gasoline, and…

DOJ ASKED TO INVESTIGATE HOW OBAMA CAMPAIGN CO-CHAIR OBTAINED STOLEN IRS TAX RETURN

Los Angeles giving ‘special treatment’ to illegal aliens

The Contemplative Thinker

The city of Los Angeles is taking its sanctuary title more seriously than most by ordering police officers to stop enforcing a state public safety law because it creates an “unfair burden” for illegal immigrants.

An unfair burden is not the words we’ve come to understand the federal U.S. Constitution under such circumstances. On the other hand, we also don’t support sanctuary cities, or any privilege albeit, Obamacare, Swine flu vaccines, licensing, or otherwise for those who have willfully and knowingly broken our laws being here in the first place.

A few weeks ago the mayor, Antonio Villaraigosa, directed the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) to stop impounding the vehicles of unlicensed drivers for 30 days as per state law. The measure is intended to keep potentially reckless drivers off the road and therefore protect the public. It applies to unlicensed drivers as well as those who have had…

Forget Homeland Security, Now It’s About “Environmental Justice” – Tea Party Nation.

By Alan Caruba

It is the nature of any government to seek to expand its authority. The Founding Fathers knew this and gifted Americans with a Constitution that limits authority devolving it to the states and to “the people.” Read the Tenth Amendment. It isn’t working.

The freedoms they sought to establish and preserve for future generations are being eaten away and we tend only to hear about in individual cases when, in fact, it is so widespread we accept the injustices, the inefficiencies, and the enslavement in increments.

After 9/11 it was clear that some reorganization was needed to ensure that various enforcement and other agencies could communicate and coordinate more effectively in order to wage “a war on terror.” The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) was created. The sheer size of it should have…
