Where Are All the New Jobs?

Why aren’t employers hiring more workers? Why are so many people seeking work unable to find anything other than part-time positions or temporary employment? And that’s when they can find a job at all.

In short, what’s causing the continuing stagnation of the U.S. economy?

Former Sen. Phil Gramm observed in the Wall Street Journal the other day that we’ve had recessions before. But at this point in the cycle we should be roaring back. Had we followed the pattern of the previous 10 recessions, almost 12 million more people would be employed right now, producing additional goods and services worth more than $8,000 for every household in America.

So what gives?

Job Creators Alliance (JCA) is an alliance of business leaders who are focused on this very issue. These are employers who are in the trenches, facing the economy’s woes day in and day out. Two of them told Fox Morning News last week that the reasons for slow job growth boil down to basic common sense. (Fair disclosure: my wife Jeanette is the director of the organization.)  read more

The mother of Huma Abedin, Hillary’s Clinton’s chief of staff, has represented a Saudi-funded Muslim charity accused of terrorism financing and ties to al-Qaida.  It’s time to wake up people!

Huma is the wife of former Democratic Rep. Anthony Weiner of New York.

Huma’s mother is Saleha Mahmood Abedin, an associate professor of sociology at Dar Al-Hekma College in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. She formerly directed the Institute of Muslim Minority Affairs in the U.K.

Abedin has reportedly represented the Muslim World League, or MWL, a Saudi-financed charity that has spawned Islamic groups accused of terror ties. One of the groups was declared by the U.S. government to be an official al-Qaida front.

Saleha Abedin has been quoted in numerous press accounts as both representing the MWL and serving as a delegate for the charity.

In 1995, for example, the Washington Times reported on a U.N.-arranged woman’s conference in Beijing in September of that year that called on governments throughout the world to give women statistical equality with men in the workplace.

The report quoted Abedin, who attended the conference as a delegate, as “also representing the Muslim World League based in Saudi Arabia and the Muslim NGO Caucus.”  read more

According to Vincent Vernuccio in the Washington Times, it’s over 70 pages and details how “outside pressure can involve jeopardizing relationships between the employer and lenders, investors, stockholders, customers, clients, patients, tenants, politicians, or others on whom the employer depends for funds.”

“It” is a new intimidation manual uncovered during a lawsuit against the SEIU*, one of the nation’s largest unions. In it, Vernuccio says, the SEIU’s dirty tactics are explained, including bullying employers by targeting them economically and advocating for breaking the law.

For example, Vernuccio explains the manual openly calls for disregarding the law, using Martin Luther King, Jr. and Ghandi as justification: “Union members sometimes must act in the tradition of Dr. Martin Luther King and Mohatma [sic] Gandhi and disobey laws which are used to enforce injustice against working people.”  read more

An extremist group in the United Kingdom called “Muslims Against the Crusades” have called for Bradford and Dewsbury, two towns in Yorkshire, and the borough of Tower Hamlets in East London to implement Sharia Law, the Daily Mail reports.

“We suggest it is time that areas with large Muslim populations declare an emirate…to live by the Sharia as much as possible with their own courts and community watch and schools and even self-sufficient trade,” the group’s website states.  read more
