As NewsBusters reported Tuesday, former New York Times executive editor Bill Keller said on MSNBC’s Morning Joe, “Sometimes [Rick] Santorum sounds like he’s creeping up on a Christian version of Sharia law.”

In response to this nonsense, the Republican presidential candidate told conservative talk radio host Hugh Hewitt later that day, “This is the intolerance of the Left. If you have religious beliefs that they don’t believe in, then they marginalize you” (video follows with partial transcript):

Three months ago, Attorney General Eric Holder told Congress that guns illegally supplied to drug cartels in Mexico – as part of the Obama Administration’s “Fast and Furious” scandal – would continue to show up at crime scenes “for years to come.”

Unfortunately, this is the most honest declaration to come out of Holder’s Justice Department since this deadly scheme first surfaced.

On February 15, 2011, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Special Agent Jaime Zapata was ruthlessly gunned down in the line of duty when his vehicle was ambushed by suspected members of a Mexican drug cartel. Documents obtained by CBS News show that one of the guns found at Zapata’s murder scene was supplied by recently convicted gun-runner Manuel Barba.

MILLER: D.C.’s crime solution: Be a victim – Washington Times

Washington residents are up in arms, though not armed. With violent crime up 40 percent in the first two months of the year – including double the number of robberies at gunpoint – residents are looking for ways to protect themselves. Elected officials and police have no solution.

Take Benjamin Portman, who lives on Capitol Hill, part of the 1st District, where violent crime has increased the most. A total of 110 incidents have been reported in 2012, a 69 percent jump, according to statistics obtained by The Washington Times. Two weeks ago, Mr. Portman’s male roommate and his girlfriend were robbed by three armed men in ski masks as they walked home on a well-lit street.
